At the Class Association Annual General Meeting, the proposed bylaw amendment regarding spinnaker cloth weight passed by a vote of 34 in favor, 5 opposed.
Beginning January 1, 2013, spinnakers made from 37gsm (grams per square meter) weight cloth may be used for racing. This would allow use of, for example, AirX 600 material. The actual amendment to the bylaws reads:
"The maximum dimensions of the spinnaker, which must be of a woven generic spinnaker material, and weigh not less than 37 grams per square meter of finished spinnaker fabric, shall be as follows . . ."
