Championship Day 2 News

With the temperatures still hot, the racing was even hotter as the wind speeds increased.  Steady breezes at 10-13 knots with frequent gusts up to 15 knots held throughout the day.  After 3 long races in the higher winds, the racersí skills were truly tested!  Eric Kownacki and team did top honors with 3 bullets, but Gordon Mattatall and his crew were nipping at Ericís heals with 2 seconds and a sixth.  Third for the day was Paul Stevens and his crew.  With an overall tie for first place and only 4 points between the top 3, the final day of racing is sure to be exciting!

Championship Day 1 News

Although the temperatures in Eugene were approaching the low 90ís, we were blessed to have steady (and sometimes shifty) winds for 3 full races.

Race 1 was a simple windward and downward finish that got started with boats doing penalty turns right at the start. The racing was tight with Paul Stephens (Aquilla) taking the bullet, followed closely by Gordon Mattatall (H2O Boa) and Shannon Clune (Bob).

Race 2 was a 4-legger with a downwind finish, with winds holding at 6-8 kts but going light on some parts of the course, creating many position changes. Gordon Mattatall took the bullet, with Paul Stephens and Eric Kownacki (Distaster Area) in close pursuit.

Race 3 was a 5-leg upwind finish that was exciting as the previous two. The winds held nicely which resulted in a bullet for Eric Kownacki, followed by Gordon Mattatall and Paul Stephens.
