SantanaRama 2008: A message from your Regatta Chair


Itís just about 2 months till SantanaRama2008 Class Championships and plans for the event are coming along nicely. I will have the schedule of events in just a few days (subject to change) and the entry forms will follow shortly.


Our social program is nearly complete and includes...


Monday, after boat measurement, we pile into buses and head for La Velle Vineyards ( for dinner and hopefully some form of entertainment.


Tuesday, after the remainder of the boats are measured, we eat some burgers and hear Andrew Kerr's talk.  We will again hop the buses for a trip to downtown Eugene for a taste of local micro brew beer.


Wednesday, after the races, we sit down to a BBQ rib dinner.


Thursday we gorge ourselves with Hector's famous BBQ pig before the annual meeting.


Dancing will happen either Wednesday or Thursday. Then Friday along with the awards, we nibble on finger foods. Of course beer will be provided every day.


Along with a week of great racing, you get all evening meals and lunches, plus bus rides to La Velle Vineyards and Eugene Microbrews, plus 3 t-shirts per boat.  Thanks to a generous tourism grant from Lane County, we are able to do all this for just $175 per boat for the week. The only thing you will have to pay for is breakfast served by Sea Scouts (adults $5/kids $3), extra t-shirts, dry-fit t-shirts, caps, extra meals and 'fridge' magnets. 


We are planning for a good time for everyone as well as a safe trip to the winery and micro brews. We are staking our reputation on having one of the finest regattas you can imagine.


Also note that we will assign boat slips, boat numbers, and RV parking spaces, that boats will be left in the water after Tuesday's practice races and there will be a special area for the first 5 finishers in each race to be checked by the measurement committee.
