Congratulations to the team of Charles Witcher, Sherron Hart, and Charlie Hess for successfully retaining the District II championship held over the weekend at Folsom Lake - as well as capturing the class title. Fifteen boats competed in the class, 13 in the districts. With light air prevailing, the regatta was abbreviated to a 4 race event with the "Agressive Tendencies" team going 1,5,1,5 narrowly defeating Chris Winnard, Andrew Kerr, and Bobby Brooks "Disaster Area" 7,2,2,1 with a tie-breaker. "mOOn" was closely in the fray with 3,4,3,4 finishes and held onto second in districts and third in class. The big excitement of the competition was Fleet 12 secretary Barb Craig and husband Todd ("Orca") leading the first day with a fantastic showing of second and first place, and newcomer Joe Marck's "In-N-Out" taking a 4th overall and third place in the districts.

Old time S20 sailors John Cusack and crew Mike Gillum of "Here Comes Trouble" were racing a B25 and really enjoyed seeing the resurgence of Fleet 12 Santanas.

Lance and Patricia Purdy with toddler, Sean, came to play Sunday -- it was good to have "Sea Bear" on the line again, with Patricia expecting baby # 2 this summer their sailing days are limited and we were glad to share one.

The fleet greatly enjoyed Andrew Kerr's Racing Seminar and appreciated the 3 plus hours he presented. Andrew is a great ambassador for our class, he's approachable, personable and informative in a way that speaks to every level in his audience. Andrew spoke of and encouraged several purchases of the new Class Technicalities. Thanks again to the National Class for providing the funding for these seminars that do much to promote the growth of the class by reaching the sailors at the local level.

Complete race results and photos soon available on the Fleet 12 webpage.

Next up for Fleet 12 is FLYC's Trans-Folsom Champagne Challenge Saturday April 13. For more info see the FLYC website www.flyc.org/
